Capping rules are a fundamental part of any campaign - these can be set within the Settings page of the builder and allow you to determine how often a campaign is shown to site visitors.
Frequency capping have 3 separate options:
Capping Rule | Impact on Campaign | Impact on Other Campaigns |
Campaign (Default) | Capped for one capping window | No impact on other campaigns of the same format |
Format | Capped for one capping window | Once shown, blocks other campaigns of the same format from triggering |
Uncapped | Can be shown multiple times per session | No impact on other campaigns of the same format |
Using a combination of the above, you can stop visitors from seeing too many of one campaign or one format during a session. For example, seeing >1 overlays per session often becomes difficult to manage - this is where the Format rule becomes useful.
One capping window is set to 24 hours by default but can be altered if necessary.
